Tender Morsels

Tender Morsels - Margo Lanagan On paper I should have loved this book. If I'm honest, I think the novel really lost me within the first few chapters as the story is pretty brutal. Not that I generally mind that sort of thing in a story, providing it fits within narrative, but here it just didn't.After the first few chapters, I felt that the novel simply treaded water for much too long, and didn't provide nearly enough intrigue to hold my interest all that much - although it was beautifully written.I also felt that the story didn't really find it's feet until two-thirds of the way through and by that point I was already wondering what I was going to read next.Overall, I'd give it a 3.5 as it was nicely written and the characters were very well rounded, it was just the story itself seemed to sag around the middle.
